My family are big into the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping.... Some of the best ideas for making things easier have come from other people. Lets see some of the things that you do.

One thing that I do is keep an umbrella tied to my stand at all times. It is one for those that attach to a tree and comes in a little bag. It is out of the way and always there for rain or sun.

The other thing I do is keep almost all my misc hunting items in a box. So when I am ready to leave for a trip, all I do is load up the box.

I bought some of those umbrellas at Dick's last year. They can make the difference between a miserable and enjoyable hunt.

One thing you can do with the summit climber is make a quick foot rest out of a piece of rope. You need abut a 6' piece. Tie each end of it to the bar that you sit on to climb. Make one end of it a prussic knot so it is adjustable. You can put your feet on the rope and stretch out to relieve the back of your legs. Plus you can use the rope to tie the stand together for transport

Thanks for the tip jp328.
I'm going to get me a camo umbrella! Keeping the sun off durring mid morning upper 80 degree temps will keep me in the tree longer!

Speaking of tree stands...One thing I do is turn my API climbing stand into a "frame pack" by attaching a day pack to it and most importantly a weight belt so most of the weight is on my hips and not my sholders.

Went to the Super Wallmart by me (I hate that place...liked the smaller one) and found an olive drab geen collered umbrella with a flexible shaft and clamp-on base. It's for attaching to lawn chairs but will work great in the tree stand. Under $5. "tup"

take great stuff spray foam and fill your tree stand rails and platforms. it does add a lot of weight and it quiets your stands immensly. one of my co-workers just bought a couple lock-ons and filled them with spray foam and the difference from one that is insulated to one that is hollow is crazy. try it out, you will be glad you did.
