I was kinda curious if you own hunting camps where you and your buddy's go, do you have leases on which you can build camps, or is there state land where you can build a camp. I own 50 acres with a buddy on which we built ourselves a nice hunting camp. It is within 2 miles of 2 small lakes which have small brookies. As well, how is the deer population in your areas?

Our camp in Gadsden County has been in our family for about 20 yrs or so now. Sometimes we have leased land around it, sometimes we have to drive to the local WMA's but either way, there's been lots of deer hung from the old oak tree and 1 or 2 beers drunk there too.

We have a family house up in North Florida that my parents bought back in the 80's. It is a 3 hour drive from my house in Tampa. It has been my home away from home since I was a kid, We have right at 1 acre with a mobile home on it. My hunting lease is a 10 minute ride from there

I have hunted a few leases over the years where we camped on the hunting property. Both styles have their pros and cons. I enjoyed staying in my camper in the middle of the woods and cooking on a coleman stove. But as I am older now, I enjoy coming in from the woods to a hot shower, big screen TV, and dinner ready in my crock pot

Nothin like huntin oaks, deer love acorns and you can even hear them crunching on them. You are absolutely right, there is nothing better than coming back to camp with your buddies and having a few brown pops and putting your feet up. I am kinda curious though, what does WMA stand for? Here are a few pics of my little heaven.

Cheers and safe hunting

You are very lucky to have a family house so close to your lease. Just like you, we had a camper for years as well with no amenities and it was the best time you could have with your pants on when I was younger; however, like yourself, I find the heat from a wood stove, having electricity, water, lots of room for the 5 of us (myself and 4 buddies) and even an outhouse (hard to believe an outhouse is a luxury...Hahaha) is a definite plus. I posted some pics above of my camp. Home away from home!!!

Cheers and safe hunting
