Yeah, it's about an 8hr drive with stops for lunch and bathroom breaks from Tampa. It's not bad if you take the Sun Coast up to US19 and then to Chapps just south of I-10 though. My family is actually from the Chipley area. I love it up there with all the north Florida "mountains". It's just beautiful. This property belongs to my daughter-in-law's sister and her husband. Real nice folks. :>)

I really liked living up in "L.A.", it's a great part of Florida, especially if you like the outdoors. Most of my dad's family comes from the area north and east of Panama City, around Wewahitchka, Blountstown, Marianna, Chipley, etc. I believe they've been around that area since before the War of Northern Aggression. Shame is I hardly know any of them, been trying to get up to an annual get-together the men have over in Sopchoppy where they fish, maybe do some small game hunting, eat oysters, etc. for a long weekend.

Haha, yeah. My great-great-great grandpa John Nelson was a Confederate Soilder who was captured by the yankees after the Battle for Marianna and taken to the federal prison in Elmira, NY. He came home after the war and went back to farming. He's burried up there. The oldest looking stone is the original, the newer one is one the local SCV council put up. There's a lot of Nelson's up that way and I'm related to all of them. They all came from him.
