I shoot 5 shot groups to get a real sampling of my shooting. if I had stopped ar 3 shots that 1 1/4" group would have been the size of a nickel. it's easy to keep it together for 2-3 shots but 5 is another story, plus you have the bbl heating up effect. luck will play no part in 5 or more shots. a flyer or "chilli pepper" now and again is to be expected unless you are a machine. and everybody only tells you about their best groups not their worst.

at 14$ a day I should own that chazz public range by now. I have so many brands in the fire at once trying to get them all zeroed is costing me a fortune. the ruger 22 mag bolt-check, rem mdl 7-check, 35 cal 336-check ruger 25-06 with new timney trigger I can get the first 3 shots in a 1/4" group at 100 yds but the last 2 (for a 5 shot group) open up to 1 1/4". hard to keep your feces coagulated for more than 3 shots. gotta go again tommorrow and start the new 35cal 336sc and hopefully finish the rem lt 20 ga slug bbl. then get to work on the pistols. too many guns and time on my hands, and I downsized from 30+ guns to an even dozen, just the bare minimum you need to scrape by with.

It depends on which rifle im shooting, @100 yards my 7mm will shoot a group about the size of the base of a soda can (recoil anticipation is killing me) and thats also on a warm barrel. My AK @50yards on a cold barrel is about a 2in group, by far my favorite is 12gauge slugs @ 50 yards, a box will group about 7in but it will be just one massive hole.

Went to Wyoming antelope club afew weeks ago and a fella had a 308 all done up and fancy shooting clovers. I giggled inside because it must have weighed 20lbs and had no practical purpose other than a long range hole punch

theres a time and place for all guns. that 20 lb gun would make a sweat porch gun, shooting house or prone with a bi pod. I sold mine in 25-06 and got one down to 10 lbs. still heavy to be hiking with. I lean more towards short/light carbines and levers at app 6 1/2 lbs.

I can kill a deer or buffalo
With just my arrow and my hickory bow
From a hundred yards don't you know
I do it all the time
