I've never used this before but I've been seeing this on craigslist. http://www.trophyrest.com
I was trying something like this with the Bow Hanger I brought with me. It was nice cause it held my gun while I was getting stuff out of the backpack and it also provided a place to hang the back pack. I used the cord I pulled the gun up into the stand with and looped it over the bow hanger to do what the trophy rest did. However it slipped off the hanger, I think I will get another hanger and bend the end up just a bit so the cord wont slide off, and mount that over my head, where the other one is off to the side of the tree out of my way.
Seems like a good enough fix, and portable enough to use with climber stands.
Thanks all for the thoughts and ideas.

Summit makes a gun rest which attaches to a climber.
I have also used it on some other stands. Bought mine from Cabelas for like 35-40 bucks.
Works well and very stable.

#1 idea - Practice offhand shooting.
#2 idea - Get creative with paracord and small bungees. If there is a limb above you/your rifle you may be able to cinch a section of paracord to that limb. Then attach a bit of bungee to the rope at the appropriate height. That height would be if you were in a comfortable shooting position and had the gun up, the bungee would be supporting the front half of the rifle. I would position a little higher than you intend to shoot and use downward pressure to adjust on target.
Modern military marksmen use that kind of stuff all the time to make improvised rests.
Edit - Just saw the trophy rest, pretty similar idea.
I use an adjustable shooting stick rested on my knee or stand.
