So I got to thinking about the first nine days, yeah every year I have atleast gotten one half of it where I hunt and yeah I guess it lowers the number of hunters but to me its a waste of 2 weekends if you dont have the permit or your work schedule interferes and most people cant always hunt the week so it goes almost 3 weeks into the season before you get to go, yeah bucks get taken but really with the warm weather still you dont see much of a game taken until cooler weather and the rut kicks in but still almost 3 weeeeeks of having to wait!!! lol anyone feel the same about the first nine days or have a diff opinion???

I agree. The real funny part is if I owned private land right next to a WMA I wouldn't have to follow any quotas, antlerless or antler requirements or additional regs other than the FL Hunting Zones and Hunting Dates for the species. FL WMA's are a joke the way they try to manage them, especially the smaller ones surrounded by thousands of acres of private land...

an advantage might be to get a shot at them before they go nocturnal and get the hunters patterned. thats pretty much it for me.

its just frustrating when they can do so much better for hunting and the land and then they want to have meetings with hunters but dont listen to half what they have to say. Idk if its because hunters are a small number of the population and I guess the funds just arent there, as far a GS I understand they gotta protect it because of the signifance of the water table and aquifers but c'mon you can do alot with 50,000 acres, open up a just a "few" more roads to allow people to spread out, theres places on google earth that even still to this day have prob seen only a handful of hunters do to being so far from the main roads. They have a problem with campsites and the stupid permits, again 50,000 acres open another small area somewhere...dont mean to be standing on a soapbox, just bummed I wont be hunting my first 4 days due to work schedule, thought id vent a little.

i hate it when life gets in the way, but unfortunately it does sir. i agree they shold open more roads, not that my 2wd would get me back any further but the option to hop in a buddys truck would be nice.

Why open more roads? They give every frigging body a handicap pass. More people riding around and Green Swamp will be no better than Richloam.
