Heard that on a full moon and or new Moon that Deer feed all night and dont move during the day. Is this true ? according to the Moon and the weather, how much moving around during the day should I expect if at all. Dont know if it was a new or full moon on Wednesday night but heard the deer were not moving on Thursday.
When it comes to salt water fishing, I'm pretty good when it comes to the tides and when to fish but I'm still learning the Deer thing. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all !
they go wherever the helll they want whenever they want to. I've given up trying to predict cuz I'm usualy wrong. just get out there whenever you can and screw moon phases and weather patterns etc. if you can get out in the woods go out int he woods. the pig I shot the other day was standing in the middle of a main trail/rd in broad daylight, guess she didn't read the manual on animal behavior. the better you know an area the better the odds of predicting where they may be bedding, feeding,driking, hiding, but it's still a crap shoot. the more hrs you put in the better your odds of bagging something, imo
This time of year the deer are practically nocturnal, regardless of the moon due to hunting pressure.
I personally never bought into the "deer feed all night and sleep all day on a full moon" theory. Deer do not need moonlight to see at night. Matter of fact, a lot of times the major feed on a NEW moon will be in the middle of the night
Based on my sightings over the years, the best time to me to see deer on a full moon: sleep in as late as you want, eat a good breakfast, get in the stand at lunch time and stay till dark. Mid afternoon seems to be the best
Look at a solunar table and look for the time of the moon over and under. I rely more on that time than I do on the actual phase
Moon over/under foot is what i pay attention too.all hooved animals eat around the same time.pay attention to the cattle and when there up feeding.i've never seen cows lay up all day.do to hunting pressure deer don't have the freedom to feed like cattle but still have the urge.JMO.

During this past week the feed tables all said early morning and late afternoon feed times were best but with the full moon I didn't see it. There were a minimum of 5 of us on the lease for the last 7 days and there were 5 deer seen. I can't make up my mind about the solunar tables. I see more deer during the middle of the day with a full moon but can't seem to talk myself into sleeping in.
