I wouldn't actively go seeking them out to kill them. but on the other hand I'm not gonna miss him, one less danger in an area I used to frequent in shorts and sneakers. I've always tried to be careful but sometimes you just can't see where your putting your feet. I always run a branch, or bbl of my gun over the other side of a log before stepping over. they blend in so well it would be real easy not to see it and step on it. I'm kinda suprized that snake didn't feel the ground vibrations crock musta been making and give a warning rattle. give me a warning rattle and I'll definately give you a wide berth. once again any opinions on those pistol round snake shot loads, waste of time, or what?
I used to kill them but not anymore. I kill the shit out of cottonmouths though. I kind of respect them big ol' rattlers,I just go around them and let them be.All they wanna hurt is a rabbit.
I've seen those big ass swamp rabbits every time I've gone back in that area, guess thats what that rattlers, been living on.

I realy worry about snakes and my dogs ( which are more members of the family than work animals ) so I just won't hunt with them down here, too dangerous. they wouldn't stand a chance if bitten by a snake like that. they think catching/killing black racers is fun . I'm afraid they'd try the same thing with a rattler. BTW thats a beutiful lab you got there. if you use him/her for ducks down here watch out for gators and cotton mouths.
