Headed central Florida WMA for my 1st hunt of the year last week. I saw a lot of deer with 1 being a real good buck. He never got close enough for a shot, and I do not have a muzzle permit. :death I ended up with a 92 lb doe. She fried up like mothers milk to a newborn.

I took a buddy, and the old buzzard had to kill a turkey with a bow from a tree stand. I have yet to do that. In the last 2 hunts I have had a chance, but as soon as I went to draw I was busted. To many birds watching.

I took a different buddy this week. He had never killed a deer with a bow. I got him back into it last year when they seperated the primitive weapons hunts. I was in the same WMA the week before, and picked him a spot close to me. I have seen a lot of sign there for years there was just no where for a climber. They burned it last year, and it opened it up enough to access 1 pine tree that has grown enough for a climber. He ended up killing his first 2 deer with a bow 15 min. a part. He took the nanner. Than 15mins. later a 6pt. comes walking in from the other direction walks up and sniffs her only to be rewarded with an arrow from Tom as well. He scored a 2fer.

He filled our bag limit for the day so we headed to an all you can stuff for dinner. Than picked a bottle of bourbon, and a 12 pack headed back to the motel room, and got to watch some college ball for the remainder of the day. All in all it was a pretty good week.

Sweet report. I took a guest 2 weeks ago and he killed a turkey out of one of my stands. I have yet to do it either. Shot one and lost it years back, but never harvested it.
