One old trick I read:
Deer/horse flies are attracted to movement and dark colors. Take a milk jug and spray paint it black or dark blue and hang it by a piece of fishing line, so it can move in the breeze. Then coat it with something real sticky, like spray adhesive, glue or whatever. The flies are attracted to it, then land on it and get stuck
That sounds like a PIA to do each time.
I use the Cutter brand odorless bug spray with Picaridin during archery. I spray a little on my head cover and then spray my collar and cuffs on my shirt. That seems to keep some of the bugs away. I can't remember if it worked on those flies though. That's why I thought about trying these patches.
Someone else made a comment about putting a sticky fly trap up and using that. That's an idea.
Here's the stuff I use in addition to my Thermacell.
Thats for using around your house or at camp. Not going to strap a milk jug to my head every time I go in the woods
Wal Mart is carrying this now. It is about $4.75/bottle. The fumes will kill ya but it really works. We used it last weekend hanging stands and filling feeders. Not sure how scent free it really is, but it doesn't smell like some of the others and it is not greasy like the stuff you posted
ima make a deer patch... so all the big deer just come and stick to you and you win the contest.
