Check this out, my brother works for Natural Resources here in Nova Scotia, Canada. He is a Forester and the local nuisance wildlife officer. He received a call from a farmer on October 5th, 2011 about 2 deer fighting and by the time he got there with other wildlife officers, the larger of the 2 deer was already dead with a broken neck. They had to dart the live buck and cut the antler to unsnarl them. The buck was that tired he could not get up from his ordeal. The buck finally got up and survived to fight another day. It's not too often a person gets to see 2 massive bucks like this that fought to the death.

Cheers and safe hunting

Rob

How much for non res tag? Is it hard to find land to hunt if you don't live there?

A non resident license is about $135.00 Cdn and there is lots of gov't land to hunt on which you do not need permission to hunt. In most cases everybody knows someone who will allow hunting on their property if you want to hunt private land. Bucks are not very plentiful in my area and you need to win a draw in order to take a doe. This year I had 4 different bucks hitting my apples (we use them for attractants) but they were all at night and only saw does during the day. I had a doe tag but because the deer population is down where I hunt I elected to leave the does alone and added my name to the skunk plaque for 2011.

Cheers and safe hunting

It's a shame when this happens as it takes away from the gene pool in that area. Thanks to my brother, at least one of the bucks survived. He had to cut the antlers in order to release the buck.
