I am using #4 because I have a lot from left from small game at lower suwannee. for home 00buck first round and if they are still comeing towards me the next round is a slug followed by more buckshot. If they are still coming I have big problems. Oh and thanks for the ammo advice I am a rookie and dont mind advice at all
For turkeys I have been using # 5 remington turkey loads for the past few years and have been very happy with them. I think that most of it has to do with how your gun patterns with each paticular load. I shoot a barretta with a .665 choke and those # 5's do the trick with that gun. I do not know how 00 would do for turkeys in it. Now for home defense once you get past the dog it's katie bar the doors i'm slinging all kinds of stuff at ya.
