Has anyone seen this? Might be worth it to some to go to one of these meetings. Just an FYI.

Southwest Florida Water Management District Evaluating Hunting and Other Recreation

The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be holding a series of meetings to discuss the District’s management of recreation activities, including hunting, on approximately 225,000 acres of land under its jurisdiction.

Recreation Evaluation 2013 is being conducted by a Recreation Ad Hoc Committee which was appointed to determine whether the District’s recreation program is in line with current recreation trends within its 16-county region. Following its evaluation, the Committee will make recommendations to the District’s Governing Board.

The Committee divided the District into four recreation planning regions: Northern, Tampa Bay, Heartland and Southern. The Recreation Evaluation for each planning region will be presented at each of the four public information meetings. The meetings will provide the public with an opportunity to review the results and provide input. Comment forms and a recreation survey will be available at the meetings.

Hunters who want to see opportunities for hunting expanded on lands managed by the District are encouraged to attend one of the public meetings and submit comments to the District. Comments can be submitted online at the District’s website: http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us .

Each of these meetings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

I had heard something about that but didnt know the details.
We should make this into a sort of ''meet and greet'' and get as many of us there as possible, you can bet your but the liberal horse freaks will be there crying their sob stories and trashing the hunting folks to the bitter end. New land will never be opened for us if we dont continue speaking up. Its often hard to make such meetings during the week but we all need to at least shoot them an email letting them know how hunting is a part of our lives and that we are using the lands available to us now and are very interested in seeing more acreage opened in the future.

I will be at the Tampa one. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. I will never understand why antis can get so many more people to these things than hunters when most of the antis will never even visit those lands.

If you love hunting (even if you hunt private lands those public lands are yours also) you should make best effort to show up.
