thanks, I wasnt thinking about firearm hunting on this property, dont want the neighboors phoning the local LEO's.

I was realy more interested on what kind of land I should be looking at to buy in the future, so I could hunt with any weapon. 50 acres, 100 acres, 500, or more....

I will look harder at the regs. or may even contact a local GW

Thats a good question....how much....where....what do you prefer to hunt.....do you prefer hunting in cooler weather without mosquitoes, etc. do you want or not want hogs or bears around.....because it all affects the location and the price. And as always....the more you buy, the better price per acre....period....but I would say you being a young man, buy as much as you can afford. When I bought my land 14 years ago, I wish I had bought the whole 1500 acre parcel the guy was selling.....then I would have kept around 3 or 400 acres sold 1000, put plenty of money in the bank, paid off my land, and still be ahead of the game. We bought up in Georgia and in 14 years, the price of the land has gone up over 400 percent. Obviously, like anything, it doesnt matter where or how good, unless the price is right. By the way, I know of a 70 acre piece down the clay road from my property in Georgia that is up for sale right now for 2500 per acre.....and I also know the guy who owns it and he is definitely flexible and might come down as much as to $2000 maybe less per....I walked it a few weeks ago and its beautiful....three hardwood bottoms, turkey, deer, no hogs, no bear, surrounded by many thousands of acres of pine forest. I am trying to get a buddy of mine on it, but its up for grabs....I know the guys leasing it busted two nice gobblers on it about a month ago. Its in Hancock County Ga....which is a QDM county...four points or better on one side....

Anyways, back to the point....buy as much as you can afford, you will never regret it and if you buy it right you will never lose money on it. How much to buy just to hunt also depends on what is around you....where I hunt we all own parcels of 100 to 400 acres, but they are all side by side, unfenced, and this goes on for miles, so the deer really dont know if you own one acre or 1000.....one of my neighbors down the road owns the smallest place...he has 17 acres, and his garden is overrun by deer, and he kills the hell out of them every year....but again, he is totallly surrounded by private hunt clubs....

Oh....just a little more info about that 70 acre piece.....it already has a campsite with a large new pole barn big enough to put a big camper under, a good road system and several food plots already cleared.....its leased for hunting every year....basically a turn key operation...the bottoms have beautiful mature hardwoods also....nice place

I live on 5 acres and have 10 acrs behind me that is uninhabited. I have permission to hunt the 10 but I'm nervous of blood trailing deer on my nieghbors like Nacho said during bow season but will if I want to. I tried BP hunting it and there's always someone walking the road or something. I do have a rifle range with a dirt pile on my land and do shoot when I feel like it. Once someone called the law on me but I was'nt breaking no law and they left.

I have a 27 acre tract I hunt on in PA, but it's very rural. No limit to hunting with rifles or anything. I have to agree with rad though, 100 acres is good enough to actually maintain a population. Anything smaller and the deer are more transients than residents.
