Day 55-Corn patch food plot
Have been updating on Wednesdays, got a new camera and didn't know much about it yesterday(still don't today)! Hoping it won't be blurry like some of the previous updates.
Had 1/2 inch of rain on Monday the 2nd before daylight.
Corn is tasseling, ears will be forming in the next week or so.
Done all we could, now we leave it in the hands of the Good Lord to bless it to maturity. Treefarmer

Thank you for the update.
That looks great!
Have you noticed any game tracks around the plot?

Based on the size of those plants at 55 days, you must have some great soil up there. The corn is looking good.

kc45, Deer seem to stay out of a corn field during this phase of growth. A week or two after it germinates and gets out of the "needle" stage, it has two leaves, the deer will hit it if they happen by But as it gets to growing, I guess it is not too palatable as there are other things to browse that are more tender. Once the ears start to fill out and later when it dries it attracts all sort of critters. Deer, hogs, coons, squirrels, doves, turkey, ducks, will all be interested in corn if the opportunity to feed on it avails itself.
If this patch makes, we will definately need to cut some shooting lanes if the stalks remain strong enough to remain upright. After it matures and dries down, a good strong wind to knock it down would be welcomed.
Normally a field would be picked with a picker to attain ear corn for making feed for livestock or cut with a combine to have only shelled corn for the market or for feed. These operations will knock down most of the stalks, allowing you to be able to see the edges as any game would enter the field. Treefarmer
