Man I'm jealous, what an awesome set up. Why no trail cam pics of the deer?

Skunk Ape, The deer are spending most of their time in the peanut fields, very few tracks around the corn patch at this time. I've been disking around the ends of the rows ever few weeks to see who visits. Once the peanuts are dug and the lanes are mowed through the corn patch we ought to see some activity. We will be setting out the cameras when a pattern is established. There is so much food in the fields and woods right now that a camera probably wouldn't get many pics. The deer are also in the yard eating pears at this time. Treefarmer

Day 96 Corn patch food plot

Correction:Post dated on 8/8/12 should have read Day 89, not 82 (just noticed the mistake).

Rain is still plentiful, some are very thankful for the rain but some are trying to cut hay. Have had 2.2 inches since last Wednesday.

Cut around the corn on Monday with an off-set harrow to cut in the weeds and grass in order to see when and where the deer begin to use the field. Probably have to do it several more times unless it gets too wet to pull a disk around the edges.

The ears are now breaking over and drying. A friend is going to pull enough corn when it is dry to make a little corn meal. Another neighbor has a mill to grind the corn. Something for retired fellers to do! Treefarmer

Thank you for the update.
Can't wait to see how your deer hunting season turns out around the corn field.

Day 103 Corn patch food plot

Another "watching paint dry" report.

1.2 inches of rain since last Wednesday. A few tracks around the perimeter where it was disked, no patterns yet to set up a camera. Lots of browse in the woods, all sorts of things maturing. Acorns are starting to drop, dogwood seeds are beginning to turn red, persimmons have been dropping for a few weeks, it's now a waiting game. If my figurin' is right, 92 days till Thanksgiving, opening day of the short, 4 day gun season. Then ML season December 1-7 and finally real rifle again beginning December 8 through February 17.

Just a couple of pictures today, view of the "condo" and then a picture from the east side looking southwest toward planted pines, it's a beautiful morning in the Florida Panhandle with the white puffy clouds above the corn and pines! Treefarmer
