you know all the outdoor stores. save your pennies for one thats real nice so it will last you a long time :clap
Yep in the long run they are better!
I've got an old Shimano Bantam I bought new back in 1983. One of the earliest with the magnetic brake, and I think it was over $100 back then. Caught probably 200 bass and 20 or 30 big snook with it, then when I went in the Air Force it got put in its box and sat on a shelf for almost 20 years. When my mom died we were helping dad clean up stuff in the house in Lakeland and I found my old reel in my old closet. Took it home and it sat in my garage for 7 more years! Then, when me and Crock decided to go after peacock bass, I pulled it out, put some good braid on it, and it still cast like it was new! I'll be using that little bugger a bit more from now on.
Moral of the story - buy a good one, it will be worth the extra money.
agreed. about 15 years ago i was diggin thru my dads shed for some salvagable fishing stuff and came across a 704 penn that belonged to one of my uncles. it was the old blueish green model, still had the bronze pendant in it which i lost later. i have caught a pile of snook with that reel, and still have and on occasion, use it. double bale springs on it, sometimes i have to replace one or both, but worth holding on to.
I would be interested in the tarpon 120 . I have alot of saltwater stuff including a pflueger satwater low profile baitcaster on a 7 ft. outerbanks casting rod..
If interested I'll send you pics..
