how true!!! have you ever had hogs ralley you?
My best friend and hunting partner has a dog thats half cattle dog and half mutt. She herds everything imagineable. Kids, ducks, and unfortuntely hogs. She isnt much for a nose dog but if she can see them shell stop them. Went to a sod farm one night with his dog and a small bulldog I had, wanted a quick hunt so we took sight dogs. Dumped her on 4 or 5 in a grass patch and she ran them into a bayhead. Few seconds later she started baying and I cut Baby loose. As we were running in we heard one grunting and the cow dog still baying, unusual because she normally dog piles. Baby had a 95 pound sow caught while the other three were chewing on her and the cow dog was ringing them all out. She had stopped four altogether and poor Baby had dove right in. Not one to watch my pards get chewed on I waded in and drug Baby out, turned and stuck the one hog. Sent her back in, theyd moved 30 or 40 yards, abd caught another. Ended up with three of the four the last one went for the next county and the cow dog lost it. Those two dogs hated each other but in the open ground were a hard pair to beat. That cow dog bayed multiple hogs every chance she got, most hogs wont cooperate and scatter but sometimes theyd ball up and give you hell. Yall ever had any tag team you?
that would of been great to see. I have only seen a group of sows and piglets bay up in a group, in fact i got it on video, there was about four dogs that kept them bayed for about 10 minutes, till two gilts went to make a break for it and they caught them and pigs scattered in every direction. Went to catching dogs coz they went to killing little pigs. but it was fun to watch
there are some vids of guys getting rallied on on youtube. some of them are ok. that could turn bad quick if people arent watching out
Ive seen the boys from Australia get rallied and some in Texas. In the boar pen sometimes theyll tag team you, or one will get your attention while another sneaks up on you. Never trulky been rallied in the woods though.
