I picked up a catahoula cur pup about a month ago she's about the same age as Vonnicks maybe a few weeks younger if yall set a date to try out his pup let me know if it's ok i'd like to try mine out too. I'll buy the beer.
Worse than having a dog that's spoiled is having your girlfriend witness her babies guts hanging out or bleeding to death.She may still make a fine dog,curs are very smart. But the good ones tend to get cut.I had one that was great but she was so rough she'd get cut to pieces every year so I finally gave her away.My others will bay back unless the entire pack is there then they go to catching.

Yeah, I totally understand the implications of putting a dog in the woods and I made it clear to the girlfriend. Not that she would freak out any less if her baby got cut, but I can say "I told you so." I've been out with my buddies that run curs enough to see what kind of stuff can happen. Hopefully this one follows after her mama and stays back and bays rather than pulling a kamikaze like I see some curdogs do. My buddy has one that has been laid open the last 4 times he's hit the woods.....either gonna learn soon or it's not looking too good for his future.
One of my male dogs would only hunt with my old female,don't know why but after I retired her he hunts much better. Sometimes dogs won't hunt at all with dogs from other packs,they're all different. He's still a puppy,I don't expect much from them ill they're at least 18 months.
