Hey I might be getting a dog within the next year or so. I was thinking about training him for rabbit hunting possibly hog. Anyway I have been curious about people that hunt with rabbits with dogs, what guns do you use? How do you keep your dogs out of your shot angle? Never hunted with dogs before so I am quite ignorant about this topic. Any help is welcomed.

Shot gun, its good to practice shooting with your dog and not someone elses because those guys kinda get up set when you shoot there's. I would find a spot where no one else is around to do said practice. I Love hunting with dogs but I just got tiered of hunting them. If you were a dog hunter you would know what I'm talking about. good luck with the training.

Chances are that the rabbit will be way ahead of the dogs. It's a common misconception to think that the animal being persued by dogs will stay right in front of the dogs but most of the time you have nothing to worry at all as the animal will be 100 yds or more ahead of the dogs. I thought this also when I first started doggin too.
