Opening weekend was good for us.Sat morning one of the young dogs found a sow by herself and bayed it until her hunting buddy came to help. the best part it was not 30 feet from the road. :clap :clap . Then Sunday we caught a barr, about 70 pounds, Monday caught boar hog about 100 pounds and cut him and turned him loose. Tuesday the dogs bayed one then it broke and run and his nikes' were smoking. Had to work wen and thur. Turned out Friday morning and the little dog in my avatar found a nasty hog. She found it and if they start to run, she will grap alitlle hair. Heard them baying hard in a sawgrass pond, took the catch dog in and the hog started to walk on them,then their was alot of grunting, wrestling , they bayed hard again, had to walk thru gall berries and briars now and the hog started to walk. They finally stopped him, we could barely see him for it was thick and sent the cd in but she missed. They took off and the bay dogs were after him, Our friend had my granddaughter on the four wheeler on the road and saw the hog cross with dog coming behind, we didn't get the lil gyp until 1/2 hour later about 4 miles down the creek, with a rip on her side and a large hole on the other. The boar pentatrated her chest cavity, sounded like she had a hole in her lungs. My heart sunk, took her to the vet and alot of suturers, prayers, she seems to be doing ok. It is amazing how tough some dogs are.
A young man shot this hog yesterday in the club, we think it is the same hog.
Way to go Spaz. I've had my fill of still hunting,I'm thinkin I'll have dogs on the ground by Wed in Richloam and Fri thru Sun in the club in MAyo. Hopefully my old dogs will last a day or two before their feet get to sore and my young dogs get up under something. Hope your gyp is ok,give her a week or two to heal up.Time to start killin' porkers.
