been using the bayer brush and shrub on my dogs.It has the same stuff as the once a month flea med. but cost alot less and goes alot further
We have used it for 3 years now and it is great, watch them pull it off the shelve and replace it with some other ingredient that doesn't work
Yep, as soon as they figure out what its being used for they wil screw it up for us
Bayer changed their formula because they were losing too much money from their Advantage product. Luckily, Ortho makes the same exact product with the same concentration of Imaclorpid (sp?). I give my adult dogs 5 cc down the spine and it works.
got some Bayer complete insect killer with imidacloprid 0.72%, how do you mix it or use it? do you dilute with water or add some to regular dog or human shampoo? I've got a gallon of some cheapo human hair shampoo (with my chrome dome I have no use for it) and was thinking of adding some of this stuff to it, should last a real long time. just don't know how much to add. it's not the brush and vine product but has the same ingredient plus b-cyfluthrin 0.36%, just want to make sure it's safe, any precautions and how much to use? thanks. starting trifexis next month after I finish up comfortis/heartguard on hand. I have never seen a flea or tick on my dogs or in my yards. fleas and ticks on me a few times up north after hunting but never down here (chigger bites once), but I wash everything including outdoor furniture, house and all surfaces with a mix of equal parts dish soap, ammonia, mouthwash and brewed chewing tobacco in a 20 gal hose end sprayer. it really cleans and greens up plants also.(a Jerry Baker recipe), he doesn't throw anything away and has yard/garden/compost recipes that call for things like hot sauce, human hair/urine,stale/leftover beer, wine, liquor, soda pop, mothballs, ice tea crystals all kinds of stuff you would normally throw away for all kinds of yard/garden uses. He's my yard and garden Guru and has never steered me wrong.
How much does your dog(s) weigh? Google the "advantage" recommended dose per bodyweight, double that amount recommended (seeing as you have the 0.72% and not the normal 1.47% amount), and put it down their spine while trying to get it down to their skin. I normally give my adult dogs (50-60 lbs) around 5cc down the spine monthly.
thanks, will try the down the spine maybe later if needed. just mixed app 20cc's of it in 10 oz of dogie shampoo and they will be on trifexis next month anyway so I guess this is just a booster for whenever they get a bath. as they are in the pool at least 6 times a day whatever gets on them externally will probably get washed off. I was a little more concerned with the other ingredient b-cyfluthrin 0.36 %, I'll try and google it. it's gonna go on and get rinsed off fairly quick in shampoo form and will be careful not to get it in their eyes or let them lick it up, like they do with reg shampoo (soap can't taste good imo, but then again they eat poop). thanks for the replies.
all 3 dogs survived the shower/bath just fine. the big dog ME and the two 4 legged ones. all in the big wheelchair shower at the same time, it comes in handy for groups. figured if I'm gonna be napping on the ground I should be protected too. and would not want to put something on them I wouldn't use on myself.
