I'm A Vet Tech...Here is a simple approach to flea control...
PROTECT ALL ANIMALS IN THE HOUSE.

This includes all cats indoor and outdoor.
For dogs COMFORTIS is the best-we have seen that Frontline is just not doing the trick this year. and YES the fleas are at an all time high.
For your felines, Revolution or Advantage is the best. BE sure to treat everyone every 30 days. STAY AWAY from Assurity for cats, too many issues with the product. AND PLEASE keep all those pups out there on their monthly heartworm prevention. So far I have no complaints about Trifexis-We do not carry it but use the combination with Interceptor and Comfortis-exact same drugs.

Lastly, get the appropriate flea and tick products from your vet. The OTC stuff (like Hartz and Biospot) can have too many issues or are not as effective.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I have the hardest time convincing people that flea treatments start with treating the animal first, then hiring the bug man second

When people ask me what to put their dogs on, I always tell them "Whatever your vet recommends, but mine is on COMFORTIS"

People complain about the price of the meds. But in the long run, its cheaper than having me come out 3-4 times spraying your yard and inside the house, and hook work and tape worm treatments for their pets

I don't think the fleas are as bad as they were 2 years ago. That was the worst I ever saw them

It us so nice ti have the support of other professionals out there. I cannot tell you how many people do scoff at the price. But you are right...the products work.

Thanks again.

I never had flea problems with any of my dogs when "Dursban" was available to the public. Since they removed it for sale I have yet to find a product that is as reliable. Any suggestions on the best over the counter pesticide for fleas.

Good question. Are you asking about something you can spray around the house> If so, anything with Imidacloprid as the active ingredient. Most of the Bayer products have it. Just read the label
