The closest I've ever came to catching a hog was this past year. We spotted a big pack of hogs in the road ahead (in the club) and I got out and circled them while they were semi-blinded in the headlights. I grabbed the closest sow (maybe 100lbs?) by her tail and one back leg (I couldn't get both legs so I grabbed the tail with my left hand LOL) and she went crazy and was fighting trying to break free. I yelled to come get her and my buddy was coming with the bowie. She broke free right before my buddy could knife her. It would have been a great story if it would have gone as planned!
Hog season is open these next two months in our club so I might have some more stories soon, but I'm a deer chaser at heart. I'm still wanting to get on a hog hunt with dogs though but there's not as many hog doggers in the area. The deer doggers vastly outnumber the hog doggers. Until then, I will spot and stalk and shoot them instead of sticking one.
I finally got some video of my 3 plott pups, about 5 minutes worth.Now if my son would help me put them on youtube or something I will put on here. They're really impressing me for only being their 2nd time seeing hogs. Can't wait to hunt them.
