I took a trip out of Ponce Inlet last week for a trip, it started out being a 2 day trip we left at 2:30 Wednesday AM and headed 70 miles off shore to troll for dolphin most of the morning. We didn't have the best of luck but caught a couple of peanuts. At 12:30 we headed closer in to do a little bottom fishing and found a good grass bed that had a lot of bait under it. We throw a couple of lures out behind the boat and a short time latter on my rod a dolphin started screaming the drag off the reel. It took a round 25-30 minutes to get him in and get him gaffed. once I got him in the boat the buddy that carried me said "you don't know what you've just caught... this is a trophy. Most people go all of their life and don't catch a dolphin that big. That is a tournament winning dolphin. He windup being 57" and 70 Lbs.
