We left the ramp before sunrise, loaded down with a quarter of a bucket of fiddler crabs in hopes of finding some sheepshead. As the sun was peeking over the horizon we were throwing the buoy overboard to mark the structure in 40 ft of water. The seas were calm and pleasant and as we anchored I had the feeling we were about to catch alot of fish. Once we baited up and dropped you couldn't hardly make it to the bottom without a bite. The action was fast and furious to say the least. I started releasing the average-sized fish after we had 20+ fish in the coolers. We sat there for 3 hours catching fish after fish until we got tired of it. It was a quick trip as we were in by 12. I bet we caught over 100 and kept maybe half that. There weren't many larger fish on the structure but it's still early in their spawning and the big ones normally show up in a few weeks.

We didn't even stop at the Steinhatchee reef but went on out to the tugboat (approx. 16 miles out). You can catch them there until you are tired of it. The current was moving pretty good and the fish were definitely there and biting. I sort of wish we would have stopped at the reef because we normally catch the bigger sheeps there.
