First time I had my boat in the water in well over a year!!!
Got up there Friday, did the mow the grass thing, then cleaned the boat up. Pulled it across the river and filled up with $3/gal ethanol free gas :toast :censored
Saturday morning I got to the ramp ( a public dirt ramp way up river) at 7:15 and the tide was dead low. When I mean dead low, I mean it was LOOWWWWWW...I started to shoot across the river and use the public ramp, but I hate that place.
So I put my sister in the boat, backed her down, and bottomed the axle out on something. Pulled it back out and talked it over with another guy waiting to put in behind me. Said to try it again, but go way to the right from where I was.Tried her again, and got in no problem...
We idled out the river, got out to the mouth and the wind was barely a breeze. Asked sissy if she wanted to make the offshore run since the weather was nice, and the motor was running like a champ. She said yes, I keyed it in the GPS, and off we went on a 11 mile run from the last channel marker.
I got about a mile or so away from my #, and told her that pod of boats was sitting on my spot. Sure enough, there were 3 boats anchored up on my rock pile out there.
I worked the edges of it, found some other structure, drifted, anchored and chummed, you name it. We did ok.
I have done a lot worse, I have done much better. It was just good to get out again. We caught enough fish for dinner last night, plus enough for each of us to have 3 packages each to freeze.
Not many pics this trip. Here is one at the house with the motor fired up on the hose
Glad you had a great time! Hope you get a bunch more chances this year.
Nice bunch of fish. :toast
Good eats and a fun trip congrats!
