Well, the wife and I are heading to Long Key State Park next week. Scuba diving the reef one day, Bone fishing the flats one day and we are going to Key west for a night. We have never been to this park but I will give an update on the camping when we get back.

Caught my largest bone from the flat all the way to the south. Nice place to camp right on the beach. Get a few shrimp and hopefully the tide is coming in and just wade the flat to the south. Lots of bones right where you camp. How long ago did you reserve that place? When I drove down the guy at the gate told me they had a 1 year wait on spots. Key West and the Duval Crawl, great times from what little I can remember. :rolleyes: Have a good trip!!!
We made the reservations 2 weeks ago. If there is a gate that you want to camp. Just keep checking the reservation site. People will reserve them a year in advance and then cancel. There are 3 sites that just came open in Long Key for the first week in Aug yesterday.
I am bring 3 line classes, 8, 10 and 15. I like to use shrimp, mirror lurers or my favorite, a Cotee Chub Grub. Bounce that Grub in front of them and hold on. I like the Mirror for the cudas that roll along the flats.
