And I should have stayed home. Saw a total of one hog in three days, and I shot him.
Yep, I shot him at 10 yards. Last 5 minutes of daylight Saturday. I was standing up to climb down when he walked in behind me. Stuck his nose in my corn pile and I let a spitfire fly, and it hit its mark..Or so I thought.
Got down and my fletchings were dripping in blood. Problem there was absolutely no blood trail. None. I looked for about 10 minutes and there was no blood to be found. I knew it was gonna be in the 40's so I backed out and went back at daylight to get back n the the trail. I looked for sign of him for over an hour and gave up. I went to plant my food plot on a stand 200 yards away and happened to look down and see blood. I followed it for probably another 200 yards till I was within sight of the highway and I finally lost blood. By this time it was 15 hours after the shot and starting to warm up.
So I guess he became buzzard food.
The other excitement was the bears. I think we saw 5 of them this weekend. I came out of the woods yesterday afternoon right before dark and there was a FRIGGIN BEAR in the back of my truck. He had drug a bag of corn out already and was trying to get into my cooler. Took me several times yelling at him to get him to finally run him off. Pretty exciting but I would rather not have that happen again
to bad about the hog. that bear would have startled me a bit. sounds like a good time.
to bad about the hog. you will find his bones one of these weekends 😆

Wow 3 Days is a long time to sit and see only one hog. That's a lot of thinking time there...
