C, no joking, it sounds like your bore is good but the hinge joint is a hard to get to place. if you can, the hot soapy water method works good, the hotter the water the better and plain dish soap. when the metal gets hot the water will dry and then soak oil into the nooks and cranny's. if it's that bad you may need to dissasemble and use solvent/bronze brush/steel wool. once it's established rust and pitting can be an ongoing pia.

Yea I think I have to take it apart. It's like that part was not coated right cause its the entire part nothing else.

I oil the inside of barrel heavy at end of season cleaning. You can clean all that out before season starts

I know you are shooting the shockwaves. How are you cleaning after each shot?
