Hey, I am interested in purchasing my first muzzleloader this year. Have absolutley no experience with a muzzleloader. Pretty much have decided on the TC Omega and was planning on savin up for it. However, I have an oportunity to purchase a Remington 700 ML for $150. It's in good shape and it has been converted to take the 209 primer (not sure what that means). Should I jump on this or spend the extra cash on the TC?

For $150 you can't really go wrong IMHO. The 209 is the type primer used... That's the set-up you want to have... Tell him $100 and a twelve pack of Bud Light...

I would hold out for the T/C.
Its much lighter than the Rem.
I Own an Omega and its simple to clean and it will hold its value much better.

The Rem is 9lbs
The Omega is 7 lbs.

thats one of the older, then new in-lines. and was supposedly very accurate and had a decent trigger, most likely has a longer bbl and heavier than newer mdl's. I say if you only have 1 shot make it as accurate as possible even if it means a little more bbl length and wt.
