When I was in high school I worked for an agricultural lab in Lakeland. During the summer one of the lab techs and I went down to some groves on the south side of Okeechobee to take samples. He got bit three times during that week we were down there. He was taking the leaf samples, and I was doing the soil, so he was reaching into the trees where they hid during the day. The bites weren't bad, not even as bad as a bee sting. In fact, he had mosquito bites that bothered him more. I got several fire ant bites on my legs, and he said he'd rather have the spider bites!
