Can someone tell me where to go to catch a peacock bass. I live in Ft Myers I'm thinking towards miami. I will be fishing from a boat so I'll need to put in somewhere.
Thanks Tom

Not sure but I think you need to head over to the east coast.

If you have a boat to fish from, then head over to the airport lakes. On the south side, off NW 7th Street, is Antonio Maceo Park, and there's a ramp. Those lakes are well known for peacock fishing, plus from there you can access several miles of the canals that have peacocks. Crock and I went down there a couple of years ago and met up with DONY1, but we were about a week or so late in catching the bite. They had been tearing up all over before we went. But we were hitting canals, community ponds, etc. and fishing from shore. We fished hard Saturday, and caught some largemouth, saw a couple of peacocks, but they weren't biting. Finally on Sunday Crock and DONY both caught a p-bass, but I struck out.

They feed almost exclusively on fish, so use crankbaits and rell them in fast. They love to strike fast moving lures. Gold is supposed to be one of their favorite colors. The Rapala X-Rap, Rat-L-Traps are good.

I need to get back down there and redeem myself! If you need any company let me know, maybe I can tag along and share the expenses!

My first thought was a bird. It turkey season and your title. I gonna say i have heard there really tasty but i don't really know.

Bass never crossed my mind definitely has to be south Florida. We don't have those in central fl.
