I finally got the patch installed. I used 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive/Sealant under the patches and in the rivet holes. The rivets are 3/16 x 1/8 sealed aluminum. I'll use the 3/16 x 1/4 when I add the other top brace. It didn't show up to church on Sunday :>P You can see the crack on the middle photo. I think a double brace will hold nicely. I also replaced some of the rivets on the seats that had pulled through and added an old aluminum fish ruler to the rear seat that I had in my garage. Anyone know how to get the aluminum cleaned and shinning again??
Anyhow, time to get it registered and in the water. I'm actually getting kind of excited.
I can't wait to take out my grand kids. I think they'll get a kick out of it. :fish
Hey Treefarmer, you're right. I realized I have a LOT of long running projects around the house. Haha, eventually they'll all get done I guess. I have an old Evinrude 6hp to drop on the back when it's ll done. I'm sure that'll kick'er along at a pretty good clip. My dad used an old Sears Ted Williams (Scott McCulloch) 9hp outboard that I still have in the garage. I had it running about 10 years ago but the coil pack burnt up so it will have to sit for now.
You can but an aluminum cleaner at the boat store for Pontoon Boats. Spray on and rinse, rinse, rinse off. then rinse again, it is mostly citric acid so you need to get it all off but the aluminum will look new after you are done. Google Pontoon Boat cleaner and you can several brands.

Thanks! I'll check that out.

Ordered me some MaryKate Aluminex - Pontoon and Hull Cleaner from Amazon. It had almost 5 stars so hopefully it should work well. Thanks for the tip. I'll be posting some before and after pictures when I get to use it.
