the retention pond got ones like that all day.. i finally caught a 8.5 lb bass and i threw him back.. so hes gotta be pushing 10 lbs now!.... cant weit to get back out there and catch some bass! :rockon:

That is a nice size bass. Them big ones love live bait! I watched an 10+ pounder come out of the water and take a blackbird off a cattail in a phosphate pit south of Mulberry, not 20 feet from my jon boat! Once I was trying to fly fish for bluegills, but had only caught a few big shad. I cast once more over near a floating dock, and another big shad hit it. He came up and shook once, and the lake disappeared around him as a huge bass sucked him in! I managed to keep the bass on for about 20 seconds, but I wasn't rigged for a fish that size, with only a 4 pound leader.

I'm going to have to get me some freshwater gear again and start hitting some of the ponds.
