Fried gar is delicious.
Most people are turned off due to their appearance but when skinned and cut up they look fine and taste great.
I dip them in egg/milk mixture and cover them with Italian bread crumb.
My wife is a very picky eater when it comes to fish but she loves fried gar... but she still doesn't like to look at it or clean it.
Never had gar.. Never thought you could eat em!
I was always told they were really boney. Shoot, Crock, we could have filled a cooler with nice gar from the canals along Alligator Alley a couple of years ago.

Gar are fantastic. Nice backstraps on them! 100% boneless.
I agree Gar is pretty tasty. But I am not sure it was worth the effort though. I needed an axe and wire cutters to get the amour off. Do any of you know a quick way to get the "shell" off gar?
