Stumpmaster and I headed out the other day for a great day on the river. We both were glad the opportunity came up. Good company and good fishing.
The day started with a major and some great temps. It was cool outside and the days we all want when its mid summer. We started by hitting the banks and looking for activity. We passed a tree filled with vultures and we hoped that was not a harbinger. LOL.
My goal was bluegill for the table. Its been a while and I stuck with a 1/16oz roadrunner with a gulp minnow. The bluegill and the bass seemed to like that and of course.... the F5 silver rapala. "everything loves a minnow!" Simple fishing is good stuff.
Of course since we were fishing for bluegill, we caught bass. LOL. We caught most of the fish in the am and then, it slowed down as the breeze picked up and the skies cleared.
My favorite strike of the day though was on a Horny Toad frog by a monster Gar. Man I love top water.
The day closed out running from the wind and enough time to get back and start the "Honey Do" lists for the wives.

Sounds like a great day, fishindad! I wanted to get out there so bad this weekend I couldn't stand it! Glad to know somebody got out and enjoyed it. Hopefully next weekend I'll be ready to go.
