I have a new hunting lease on the ochlockonee river and we also have a cap site on the river. I have never spent anytime in the area or on the water in the area. What kind of fishing is good there (see the picture of the are we are at)? What is the water depth like, can I operate my flatback in the area? Any really good fishing within decent distance of our area?

There is plenty of good fishing all up and down the river.
The water depth varies considerably, mostly in the 10' to 15' range with shallows of 5' and holes over 30' deep.
I fish mostly North of you in the areas around Wood Lake, Lake Sanborn and Hitchcock. Mostly bream and catfish, Specks school up in cool weather around Wood Lake area. Lots of Bass fishing in those areas also (I just don't fish for them).
Below you Shellcracker fishing is good around the island and the state park area. Also in Winter Trout and Reds will come upriver.
One thing to remember is the tide effects water level this far up river, so tie up your boat with some slack and the back anchored off or you will be high and dry when the tide falls. Also I find the the fishing best on the rising/high tides.
Hope this helps and welcome to our part of God's country.
