Does anyone here have experience with this area as in hunting for deer and hog.
Does it have good huntable populations of deer and hogs? What are the access areas like? What if you own land with direct access could that be a benefit?
Any info is helpful thanks,Rion!
Yep. LOTS! If you put in the time and scout, you can find some quality deer. I haven't seen a single hog on the property, but I've talked to some folks that have seen them, but only down by the creek. Access is pretty good. There are several roads in/out of the there, and they are mostly in 2wd condition unless it gets real wet. Most of the quality bucks are taken from areas around the creek, but it's hunted hard by dog hunters all weekend. Monday's and Thursdays are pretty good to hunt there if the deer are hunted hard on the weekends. I missed a Monster 10pt last year during my quota in Dog 4. If you have land that backs right up to the WMA, you should do great. All it would take is putting a feeder up and leave a place for them to bed, and you're almost guaranteed to see lots of deer and turkey. I have hunted much of the still hunt section with mixed results. Haven't pulled a buck off of there yet, but I'm just starting to get a good feel for the place.
I found 5 acres that butts right up to the land and emailed realtor for more info but this place is cheap(why).I have some money saved for a place but found this one and since it's land connects to Econfina it is looking good as I would love to be off grid as well. The major factors are money and if the area has the benefits I desire.
Time is getting near and the search is on heavy for a place and with any information I get I can use it to make a better choice in my decision. I do thank you for the info,Rion!
