Doesn't matter where I shot it. The same is true all over the WMA. The bucks aren't up and moving until about 9:30 - 11:00 AM. You won't beat them back to bed so if you get in at o'dark 30 be prepared to sit until noon. I couldn't get my cousin and dad to sit that long. 10:30 and they were both down and calling my phone. I shot that buck at 8:52 AM, but bounced a monster 8 point at 10:30 AM one day. I was talking to another young dude in our camp and he was sitting until noon. He was seeing deer move up through 11:30 AM every single day. Acorns are everywhere so there is no need for bucks to come out in the open. You better get yourself set up in their kitchen. Be prepared to walk a long ways to get away from everyone and their brother. We followed this logic and saw deer every day of our hunt.
Sorry if it seemed like I was wanting to know where you were hunting. Was just mainly curious about the time frame ...
Congrats again and thanks for the info...
I am heading up there for gg never been there before I am gunnu camp there see what happens i havent hunted deer in florida yet hope for the best cant wait to get in the woods good luck to everybody going out
well is there a 3rd rut going on in citrus?sure looks that way with this old gentleman.hope he makes it thourgh the summer.
Very nice buck!
Citrus was always one of my Dad's favorite WMA's. We would go there all year long riding and picnicing. I remember the HUGE herds of deer that were there back in the 80's. It was WILD! Without a doubt the biggest groups of deer I ever saw.
I used to love crawling around in those caves they have there. I doubt I could even find them now. My boys would sure love it though.
Looks like it to me. That buck looks like an old grampa. Doesn't surprise me with the buck:doe ratio in there. Probably the late yearlin does coming into their first estrous. BTW, I am up at my camp now. I saw more dead does on the roads today than I did at any time during the season driving back and forth up here. At least 20 I saw dead
