I killed this 176lb 8pt during 2010 citrus 1st muzzleloader just north of stagecoach. He was the largest buck killed that season. Citrus is a great wma if you do your homework and get away from the yahoos!!! good luck...
any body having any luck,, seems kinda slow right now.
I would kill to be in the woods today. Day after a front, North wind, cloudy and dreary....couldn't ask for much more than that.
seening does,and turkeys so far,still waiting on some horns.saw 2 big yotes sunday come from behind holder campsite crossed rd 9.
There were only 10 bucks checked out as of Thursday afternoon. Doesn't seem like to many with all the people hunting.
Had this happen to me on Thursday out there....
Went this afternoon at about 3:00 pm to scout an area in Citrus WMA that I had not hunted in a couple years. This area is high and dry with the nearest water hole about a mile away. Started up the trail and got about a 1/4 mile in and had to cross a fallen pine that still had it top intact. As I crossed the fallen tree the top of the pine exploded 10 feet from me as a 250lb or bigger Boar Hog had been bedded down under the fallen tree.
Needless to see I about crapped myself as he was only 10 feet from me. I nocked an arrow and got ready for a shot as the boar stopped 20 yards out and turned around and started to false charged me. I had to get on my knees to try and get a shot through understory but he was now facing me head on and just standing this growling real loud and popping it's teeth. At this point I am hoping he will turn broadside but I think he really wanted a piece of me.
Finally after a 10 min stare down he backed up and gave me a shot through a hole in the brush and a launched an arrow. At the shot he ran a little bit out and then turn to charge me again but didn't. He finally ran off grunting and growling at me the whole time. I couldn't tell if I had hit him and after looking I found I had hit a pinky size sapling and the arrow deflected off into outer space cause I could not locate it.
I searched for blood in case it still hit him but I never found any blood.
This is the second time this year I have had a big hog try and charge me...
