As long as you're using water and salt, any other aromatics are up to you and your taste buds.
Are you looking to make a brine for making ham? Or just a brine for pre cooking. I have never brined pork. I only brine fish and poultry on occasion

Keep in mind, a brine is a liquid that meat is put into for a short period of time to help meat retain moisture and add flavor. Pork has a lot of fat so I never saw a need to brine pork. Don't get the two methods confused. Curing ham takes several days
