Anyone here eat coot I have heard mixed reviews on this? Any recipes?

Can't say from my own experience about eating coots, but my wife remembers one of her aunts bringing a pot of cooked Coot and rice to their house when she was a little girl. The aunt lived at Canaveral, their property went west back to the Banana River and the the old gal was quite a hunter & fisherman (fisherwoman just don't sound right) back in the early 50's. My wife says the meat was very dark and she thinks there was a special deal with Coot gizzards.
We shot a few when we were kids, but always gave them away.

Thanks guys that's more or less the same I've heard I guess I'll give them a try after all if it flies crawls or walks it's edible right? Lol I guess I want some meat since I have had a deplorable season

ok Treat like a bloody fish soak in milk or ice water get the blood out.
Now The most meat is on the leg quarters and they have good size gizzard and hart.. My best is pan fried no batter not in oil use some butter. Fry with onions like you would liver. Seasoning varies from salt pepper Cajun. Use more savory seasoning than a sweet.
Once cooked i like to remove from the pan and make gravy, flour salt pepper and milk or heavy cream or both. This can be used on the meat or the potatoes or both.
I serve this with mashed potatoes and some veg like asparagus or green beans.
