Man, that is awesome. What a great program for parents to get out with their kids. It just blows me away that kids so young can hunt in the U.S. I have only ever tasted wild turkey once and it was absolutely fantastic. I sure wish we had wild turkeys here.

Cheers and safe hunting
Rob

Here is a video from last years youth weekend. I took this boy with me and tried to get him to kill this bird. He put on a tremendous show. What you can't see in the video is how we are sitting. I am sitting on the right side videoing out the side window, the boy on my left. The bird was supposed to walk down the hammock on our left. He didn't get the memo and came up behind us and to our right where he couldn't get a good shot of him. there was also a clump of trees that I had the blind behind that was blocking his shot. When the bird worked to our left, he would stop at some ankle deep water that the bird would not touch. had he gone another 15 feet he would have been clear. After 45 minutes of this, every hen in 4 counties showed up. I told the boy he had to shoot now or it was going to be over with. He actually got him clear at 10 yards and jerked the trigger and shot about 3' over his head. Had he killed it, he would have blowed my game cam slap off the tree. lmao

Crappy video shot with my little point n shoot camera

I called the same bird in the next weekend and killed him. My 2nd biggest bird to date

I am taking 1 of my nephews for the first time to one of the better WMA's. My brother is taking his daughter to the same place, and a couple of friends are taking youths on the same hunt. It should me interesting. I am expecting to be on the birds if the wind backs off long enough, but am not getting his hopes to high. I expect failure if you consider the pressure on the kid. I mean the likelihood of a 10 yr old sealing the deal. Otherwise it will be a success just to have him with me, and hearing, or seeing a few birds. My SIL calls him little Michael because he idols me. Should be a good ole time. I hope he busts 1 so his sister, and my brother can clean it. Thats the deal hopefully its not him, and I cleaning a bird.
