The woods I hunt have an abundance of owls and woodpeckers, so I rarely have to use them. Maybe one time on the owl to get them going talking back and forth. Love to hear a gobbler lettin loose on the roost to a bunch of owls. Truthfully, I have more luck with the crow call than anything. Seems every other large bird responds to it, which will in turn fire up a lock-jawed gobbler (hopefully)
Allen, I have those batwing calls ready (as well as a bunch of other mouth calls). All I need is a call from you to tell me when to drop them off.
wow i was looking at prices for turkey hunt. i need to go up from my 250.00 price for turkey hunts.new price next year 350.00
I buy the cheapest diaphragm calls at Wallyworld. I have called in 3 birds now with them. the one I am using is yellow.Seems to work quite well, just don't think the birds like my white t-shirt.
I use an old cheap crystal slate and a wore out HS strut box. The best call to have is one you can make the best sound with and trick the gobbler to get close enough for a shot. I have said it several times in different post scouting is the best tool you can have in your bag.
