Believe me I'm already thinking about season soon!
I put all the deer stands and gear in storage this past weekend.
Will haul the camper home next weekend for a major clean up and supply restocking.
Need to dos:
Inventory calls and turkey gear.....order some stuff (don't what, but some kind of gear needs buying)
Clean out turkey vest. I love this part. I never clean out the vest until the following season. Empty all the pockets, then turn the vest upside down and shake all the leaves, sticks, grass and feathers out. Sort through everything and reflect on last years hunts.
Pack gear, camo, supplies, fire wood, stock pile beer
Wait for the season ..repack everything...wait some more.....
I have been fooling around with 2 puppies but its been on my mind for some time now. I cannot wait to get back in the woods to hunt one. I haven't broke out the vest yet but it'll happen soon. I need to mount my scope and sight it back in also. Check the camo, calls, etc.
I know a place that has alot of gobblers that I'm hoping not alot of members know about and they just thinned the pines. im also hoping I'll even get to break out the decoy this year.. I've never seen one come in to a decoy
Trust me bud, I'm all over it. :rockon Driving everyone crazy with the calls already. I've got a hunt in 3 weeks and I'm hoping an Osceola will hit the ground right away. I was given a piece in Georgia to hit also. All to myself and loaded from what I was told. If I can close the deal quickly on these then I guess I'm going on a road trip to finish it up. :rolleyes
like some of you guys have said a deke is not always a help. from long distance imo they work well, but at closer range I think it can spook them a bit, unless it's a real good one, is moving well and you are a good caller. if I use 1 this year, I am going to try placing it 50-60 yards behind me and from the direction I expect the bird to come from.
