2 nights ago, me and my buddy went out to certain spots in my neighborhood where hogs recently showed up.

We went out around 1:20am and it was a full-moon, brighter than any other night that we've went out there. And suddenly, we saw 5 pigs coming out of bushes near the pond.

So we decided to go kneeling position to watch them a bit more before we take a shot. And suddenly these pigs started walking alot faster than before. So we were frustrated so decided to get up and walk toward them so we could get a shot little closer. Surpringly, one of them decides to run towards near us and literally, the distance between a pig and myself was less than 20ft...

When this was happening, my bow was already fully drown and ready to shoot and I was aiming on pig's head (like dead center right between his eyes. Finally, I realsed my arrow and heard Pig squealing noise but a pig didnt go down. Instead, he turned his direction towards bushes and started sprinting. So I put my bow down on the ground and ran after it with a machete and a flashlight. Result, nothing....

I tried find blood trails but there was absolutely no blood.... I could not find blood at all, not even a drop. So I thought maybe it was too close to take a shot with a sight that has been adjusted for 20-30yd shot...Maybe I scraped him or something...Next time, if this kind of incident happens again, I'm going to take a shot little further distance and aim for shoulder, not the head.... So diappointed about myself...

Thank you for reading guys. If there is some kind of grammar mistake, sorry Im writing this at 3am and I am dead tired from working from 11am-2am so please I hope you understand.

Again, Thank you for your time to read this.

God speed.

I am going to be polite about this. Hopefully you take it as educational and not lecturing.
Aiming for the head on a hog with a bow is unethical. The actual kill zone on the head is smaller than you think. Even if you are off by an inch you could blow its jaw out where it will starve. And if there is any type of weird angle your arrow will NOT break the skull. That skull plate is a very thick bone

You need to practice and become very efficient. The best shot is right behind the shoulder. The kill zone on a hog is actually quite small and way more far forward then most people think.
Take a look at the pics on this forum and notice where the lungs/heart actually are

Practice practice practice. Milk jug on a rope swing it. I have had them within 3 feet of me. Then they realize I am there and there gone. None hunted ( low pressured) hogs are so much fun with the bow. The best thing is still the lung-hart shoot then leave the area. Go back in about 2 hours and find it. If you fallow they will return and run if you leave the others will com back to feed and the so will the one you shoot.
