I have had pics of this ole boy just about every night since the summer. Never a day time pic. Lately he has been showing up right after shooting light is over. He is always by himself...an old loner solitary boar, probably is the reason I have not seen many deer in this spot as they will keep them run out. Checked my cam at lunch today and he was there at 7pm yesterday so I figured I would sit till I had to come out by flashlight. At 6:30pm the squirrels go ballistic and he pops out under the feeder. I am sitting in my tripod stand down the tram, 135 yards away, with a brisk NW wind right in my face. He got broadside, I took a deep breath, exhaled and held it, and squeezed the trigger. With the 25+ mph wind, the smoke cleared immediately and for the first time in my life I actually got to see a muzzleloader kill hit the dirt without looking thru a cloud of smoke.
Instead of reloading, I just lowered the m/l down and ran down there since I had my pistol. It was a good 3-4 minutes after the shot and he was still kicking a lot...hmmmm.... I kicked him a few times and he showed no signs of life other than death kicks. I rolled him over to find my entrance.. Couldn't visible see one. Weird. All of a sudden he got his 9th life and started to sit up, ad started shaking his head. Bullshit I said and gave him a 40 cal right behind the ear
Turns out he wasn't going anywhere. I hit him right behind the shoulder and it exited the same spot other side, just the fat and shield sealed both holes up. heart and lungs were soup. T/C Shockwaves, 250 gr are the way to go!! I believe that is my 10th animal now since I switched to them and 100% recovery
Don't know how big he is, but I am 230 before breakfast so yall do the guessin
Nice!
Sweet , Congrats
That's a fat one alright! So is the hog! LOL
(I know, kettle black and all that jazz)
Nice shooting, too. With that kind of damage and over 100 yards, those Shockwaves must be the shizzle!
You gonna ham this one up?
What'd he go? I'd guess at least 190. BTW, that first pic is awesome! Congrats!!!
