I know I'm probably setting myself up on this one but here goes. I've heard sows are better eating than boars, and being that hogs are so low to the ground and the brush at or above shoulder height, can you tell the sex of a hog without being able to see its nuts?
I've killed well over 100 hogs,if they're small and you can't see there nut's I'd say no. Lot's of hogs out there also have been cut and have no nuts. And I've ate a lot of big rank boar hogs that tasted pretty good on the BBQ,they stink worse on the outside,but you just can't beat a youg hog of either sex 50 to 100 lbs. If I'm on my stand and decide to shoot a hog I usually pick a smaller one or a gilt.
