Somewhat new to this hog hunting so I have created a situation for myself.
I will be taking my son in law and son hog hunting above Tampa in a month and I got thinking about where to take the meat to be processed.
Some I will cook right away. I make a mean pulled pork. But I also want some bacon and sausage out of it and I'm not set-up to do that.
Any suggestions as to where I can take that meat to be processed as I want?
I am in the Sarasota area, if that helps.

Will any butcher shop take my meat and process it for me?

Any help will be greatly sppreciated.

No, not any butcher shop will process wild meat. There are FDA guidelines they need to follow and a lot of them don't want the trouble of messing with it. Maybe one of the local guys down that area can help you find a processor. If you were in Tampa I would do it. I do it on the side. As far as bacon goes, don't get your hopes up. It's possible to make bacon out of a wild hog, but it takes a darn big one. Unless they are over 200 pounds it's not worth fooling with trying to make bacon, unless you want buckboard bacon (bacon made from other cuts of meat besides the belly)
